“Arise! Awake! And stop not until the goal is reached” – a great saying of Swami Vivekananda that always inspires us to strive for success and achieve more in our lives. The one qualification Swami Vivekananda sought in young people was to cultivate and promote the ability to ‘feel. National Youth Day is observed on January 12 to commemorate Swami Vivekananda’s birthday. It was he who always believed that power, strength, and efficiency of youth can build a prosperous and strong country. The main objective of National Youth Day is to motivate the youth and create a desire in them to build a better nation and spread powerful ideas among the youth. Undoubtedly, the government wants the youth to know the life of Swami Vivekanand and his ideas.

National Youth Day in India is not just a one-day event. Rather, it is celebrated for a week. It is organized by the Government of India, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and the state governments. The day is celebrated on the occasion of the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, who was one of the most influential leaders in Indian history. In 1984, the Indian government declared this day as National Youth Day and since 1985, it has been celebrated every year.

This time Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 26th National Youth Festival in Hubballi, Karnataka on January 12, 2023, at around 4 pm. The program will be held on National Youth Day, which is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda to honor and pay tribute to his ideals, teachings, and contributions.
