ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING - LABORATORY​

DC CIRCUITS​

This laboratory analyzes the different applications of electrical & electronics engineering circuits. This laboratory involves all types of meters to measure DC current, Voltage and power. Studentsperform experiments related to different circuit solving laws like Ohm’s law, Kirchoff’s current law, Kirchoff’s voltage law, etc. They also solve problems related to circuit designing by the use of different theorems like Superposition theorem, Thevenin’s theorem, Norton’s theorem, etc.

Electrical Workshop​

This laboratory consists of identify different types of experiments related to light sources, open circuit, closed circuit and short circuit, different types of sockets and plugs used for different current and voltage ratings, various electrical circuit protective devices (fuse, MCB,), different types of conducting, insulating materials, resistors, capacitors and inductors as per standard colour code practice etc.

Basics Of Electrical And Electronics Engineering​

This laboratory is designed to provide the basic understanding of electrical engineering.In Automobile engineering, there are many types of equipment that are electrically operated. Small faults could be identified and rectified so that the down time of the equipment is reduced. In this laboratory we perform experiments on the Ohm,s law, measure voltage, current & power in 1-phase circuit and voltage across a coil with variable frequency AC input, study the AC circuit with resistor, inductor and capacitor at constant even variable frequency, use of tachometer, RC time constant for 555 timer, use of multimeter, use of solar cell, study of photo diode, photo transistor, LDR etc. in this laboratory we can also test transformer by SC OC test, parts of DC-AC motors, etc.

DC Machines​

This laboratory gives information about all types of DC machines and single phase transformer. In this laboratory the students identify all parts of different DC machine and single phase transformer and starter, they also perform all characteristics of different DC machines like shunt, series and compound and methods to control the speed of DC motor by different methods.

Electrical Instrumentation​

This laboratory is used to calibrate and maintain different types of electrical instrumentation systems and transducers used in the industry and power systems. Precise measurement of the quantities such as voltage, current, power, temperature, pressure etc. is essential to operate and maintain the electrical machines and systems effectively and efficiently. Transducers and instruments are the devices which are used to measure such parameters. In this laboratory students test different parameters by using Wheatstone bridge, Kelvin bridge, Universal Impedance bridge.

Electrical Circuits And Components​

In this laboratory the students study about construction, working, and applications of various types of semiconductor components such as diodes and transistors, which are basic building block of amplifier, oscillator, switching circuit, wave shaping circuit and power supply. In this laboratory the students also test PN junction diode, half wave rectifier, full wave centre tapped & bridge rectifier, compare output waveform of different Filters using CRO, performance of different types of amplifier, oscillators, LED-LDR, J-FET, MOSFET, SCR, UJT, different types of ICs (741, 555), Zener diode, SMPS, UPS etc.

Applied Electrical And Electronics Engineering​

This laboratory gives some basic information about electrical/electronic issues to mechanical engineering students. This laboratory consists of experiments like study about generation of electricity, AC DC power, Ohm’s law, measurement of voltage current in given network, electrical wiring, fuse, cables, connection of different motors, fault detection in motors, operation of motors, erth tester, megger, MCB, ELCB, PCB, PLC or microcontroller etc.

AC Machines​

This laboratory enables the students to develop skills to operate AC Machines and poly phase transformers in power, commercial and industrial sector. They will be able to perform different tests and troubleshoot the various types of AC machines and ploy phase transformers. Essential theoretical and practical knowledge will be achieved by this laboratory.

Digital Electronics And Digital Instruments​

From this laboratory the students get to know all basic fundamentals of digital electronics and implement learned logical skills to solve real time problems in industry. In this laboratory they study about all logic gates, to build diode circuits, to build logic circuits, Boolean expressions, different theorems, build/test half/full Adder, Sub tractor, different flip flops, registers, counters, BED to 7 segment LCD display, decoder, encoder, converters.

Microprocessor And Controller Applications​

This Laboratory is equipped with 8085 Microprocessor Kit (XPO 85) with 16*2 Dot Matrix Display and External Key board. 8085 application boards like Traffic Light Controller, Analog to Digital Converter, Digital to Analog Converter, Stepper Motor Control and 4*4 Matrix Key board Interfacing. 8085 External Peripherals viz. 8251,8253,8255,8259 and 8279. In Digital Electronics, practicals are performed on ANSHUMAN made Master unit in which built in Function Generator, 5V, 12V and 15V Power Supply Unit, BCD to 7-Segment Decoder, LED Bank etc. Each Master Unit has a different external modules like Logic Gates(AND,OR,NOT,NAND,NOR, Ex-OR, Ex-NOR), R-S Flip Flop, D – Flip Flop, J-K Flip Flop, T – Flip Flop, Universal Counters, Up/Down Synchronous and Asynchronous Counters, Shift Register(SISO,SIPO,PISO,PIPO).

Power Electronics​

This laboratory includes the study of the power electronics devices, details of SCR, Choppers, inverters,3-phase rectifier and their applications. This is the starting point from where student can develop their industrial skill.

ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING EVENTS​

AWARENESS PROGRAM ON RECENT TRENDS IN SOLAR ENERGY HARVESTING - "CLEAN ENERGY FOR GREEN INDIA&Q​

Department of Electrical Engineering, Laxmi Institute of Technology, Sarigam organized an Awareness Program on Recent Trends in Solar Energy Harvesting – “Clean Energy for Green India”, on 30.09.2019.
Mr. Prasad Gangavkar, CEO, Luxoli Ltd., Valsad has delivered the Lecture and he has shared Future Disruptive Technologies. In session – I, different types of energy and utilities were presented & in session – II, different types of solar energy harvesting, Govt. subsidiaries and employability were discussed. More than 130 students and 15 faculties of LIT have attended the program and grasped the knowledge.

VISIT TO SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT​

The students of Electrical Engineering, Laxmi Institute of Technology, visited Sewage Treatment Plant, Anjana, Surat today (18.09.2019). This is one of the major plant which serves the Domestic and Industrial Waste water Treatment in Surat City. 40 Students along with 5 Staff members are viewed the plant and acquired the knowledge of Waste water Treatment, Bio-Gas production, Power generation, Management of Solid wastes and PLC Automation over there.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO SUDHIR POWER LTD, SILVASSA​

The students of Electrical Engineering Dept. ( Degree & Diploma) visited Sudhir Power Ltd, Silvassa on 12.04.2019.

SEMINAR ON THE ROLE OF FUZZY LOGIC CONTROL IN MODERN POWER SYSTEM ADVANCEMENTS
VISIT TO - UKAI HYDRO POWER PLANT​

Dept. of EE has arranged an Industrial visit to Ukai Hydro Power Plant which is situated in Tapi Districtof Gujarat. 82 Students along with 3 faculties visited the power plant on 27.03.2018. Prof. Hiren Patel has organized the visit; Prof. Sita Singh & Prof. Arunyuvaraj.K also accompanied with the team.
Students got the exposure of working of Hydro Turbines and Applications of Automation in Power station control and Grid Connectivity. Since the Power system is core subject for Electrical students, they had shown keen interest and had complete understanding of major equipments & auxiliaries of Hydro power plant.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM BY GTU AT L & T POWER TRAINING INSTITUTE, VADODARA​

The student of Electrical Engineering, LIT, Mr. Jai Kishan Singh got an opportunity to attend an Internship program arranged by Gujarat Technological University at L & T Power Training Institute, Vadodara, from 29/1/18 to 2/2/18. He got the exposure of power plant operation and had training over High voltage machineries. The 5 day internship was planned and organized from basics of electrical engineering to the practical works of L&T to High Voltage equipments.

ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON AWARENESS OF ENERGY CONSERVATION​

Department of Electrical Engineering had organised One day Workshop on AWARENESS OF ENERGY CONSERVATION on 20th July 2017. The Workshop was handled by Mr. B.N. Rawal and Mr. R.N. Pandya, Soham Technologies, Baroda.

The aim of the Workshop is, provide training to students to upgrade their engineering skills in energy efficiency and productivity.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO JATSON POWER PVT. LTD., NEMA SWITCH GEAR AND OFFONN ELECTRICALS, GIDC, VAPI

The Department of Diploma Electrical Engineering – Laxmi Institute of Technology organized one day educational Industrial visit to Jatson Power Pvt. Ltd., Nema Switch Gear and Offonn Electricals in Vapi GIDC on 03.03.2017 for final year students.

HR introduced the sessions on safety Policy. In the plants, students carefully studied and observed the plant model, switch yard, electrical panels and various electrical apparatus. Students cleared their various doubts regarding electrical panels, wiring, APFC etc.

WORKSHOP ON "LIBREOFFICE"​

Open Source Technologies Club (OSTC) of LIT-DIPLOMA Engineering has successfully organised workshop on “LibreOffice” for students of the 1st semester Electrical Engineering by 3rd Sep, 2016.

WORKSHOP ON INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION PLC & SCADA

The Sarigam LIT Polytechnic Students Chapter of the Institution of Engineers (India) organized a One day workshop on Industrial automation PLC & SCADA in SGP lab of Laxmi Institute of Technology. The program was organized by the Sarigam LIT Polytechnic Students chapter of the institution of engineers (India) in association with Microhub Automation an Automation Training Center, Vapi.

The main objective of this workshop was to make the aspiring engineers to get acquainted with the conceptual as well as practical knowledge of the Industrial Automation & latest technologies being used in the field of industrial automation.
