Republic Day 2023

Republic Day of India marks the day when the Constitution of India came into effect, making India a republic. The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949, and came into effect on January 26, 1950, making India the largest democracy in the world. The Constitution is a cornerstone of Indian democracy and the country’s first attempt to create a modern, secular government. It guarantees basic rights to all citizens and stipulates that the government is subject to the rule of law.

  • The date January 26 was chosen because it was the date in 1930 when Mahatma Gandhi made his famous “Quit India” speech calling for Indians to boycott British goods in protest against the rule of the British over India. This movement eventually resulted in Indian independence in 1947.
  • Also, January 26 was the day that the first session of Indian National Congress was held in London in 1885, thus marking the beginning of the struggle for India’s independence from British rule. 

Celebration across Country

The main Republic Day celebration is held in the national capital, New Delhi, at the Rajpath before the President of India. The celebration starts with a grand parade that features a display of India’s cultural and military heritage. The parade starts from the Rashtrapati Bhavan and proceeds towards the India Gate. It is attended by dignitaries from all over the world, along with a large number of people from all walks of life.

The parade features a display of floats representing different states of India, showcasing their culture, traditions, and achievements. It also includes a display of various military tanks, weapons, and equipment. Different bands and Marching Contingents at Republic Day Parade 2023

The President of India also gives a speech on this day, highlighting the achievements of the nation and laying out the government’s plans for the future. Also tableaux of the states at the Republic Day parade are floats displayed at the annual Republic Day parade in India. They represent the cultural and historical heritage of a particular state or union territory and are decorated with colorful displays, traditional costumes, and musical performances. The panels are usually designed by government departments or organizations such as the Tourism Department or the State Chamber of Handicrafts and are judged by a panel of experts before being selected for the parade.

Aside from the parade, there are also cultural programs and competitions organized in schools and colleges across the country to mark the occasion. People also participate in patriotic activities such as hoisting the national flag, singing patriotic songs, and participating in quiz competitions.

At Laxmi Vidyapeeth

In Laxmi Vidyapeeth we celebrate this day every year with great enthusiasm and patriotism. The chief guest on this day was Lt. Col. Ratnesh Sinha (retd.). The celebration was graced by all the dignitaries and leaders of LVS. Before the chief guest and leaders, the flag was unfurled by our school band and March Past team. Our chief guest unfurled the national flag.

The campus of Laxmi Vidyapeeth was filled with the spirit of patriotism and spirituality as we celebrated Republic Day today. We celebrated India’s 74th Republic Day with great fanfare at Dhwani Auditorium. The students were proud to glorify and celebrate the spirit of unity. The programme started at 9:00 am. The auditorium was decorated with tricolour flowers and national flags. We were beside ourselves with joy. Everyone was very patriotic and happy because we were all very proud of this day. Finally, on that day, the Indian Constitution came into effect and our country became a republic.

The celebration continued as the students brought the stage to life with their passion and love for the motherland through their speeches, lively dances and songs. The Dhwani auditorium resounded with patriotic goodwill and enthusiasm through our choral singing. The chief guest addressed the students and urged them to do their best and be proud to be Indian. Principal, LIS and Director, LIT addressed our students and staff with inspiring words on this special occasion. The celebration ended with the singing of the national song.

In conclusion, the Republic Day of India is a day of national pride and a reminder of the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters to give us the democratic nation we are today. It is a day to celebrate the diversity and unity of our great nation and to reaffirm our commitment to building a better India for all.
