GUEST LECTURE ON “EMERGING TRENDS IN CIVIL ENGINEERING”
There was a seminar conducted on 8th September 2017 by BE Civil Department, LIT.
The Faculty had arrived from CAD Center Valsad. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Kaushik Patel and proceeded by Ms. Dipti Tak on the topic “Recent Trends in Civil Engineering”.
Total strength of students attending the seminar were 108. The student founded this seminar to be useful for their future curriculum.
Different Design based software related to Civil Engineering where discussed such as: AUTO-CAD, STAAD-PRO and REVIT.
FDP ON “STRUCTURAL HEALTH MONITORING OF BRIDGES”
The FDP ended with a note that computers have replaced the way entire structural design is done but it cannot replace sound engineering judgement and thereby the proverb “With good engineering judgment you can produce on the back of an envelop that which otherwise cannot be produced with a ton of computer output”.
Flow of FDP was as follows:
Building System & Load Transfer Process
Need for Structural Modelling
Simplified Structural Systems
Support reaction and Frame Internal Forces
Soil Structure interactions
Different finite element soft wares available in India
Simplified Methodology of Finite element software.
FDP – AB VISIT FOR PRACTICALS OF GEOTECH & HIGHWAY ENGINEERING ON 7TH AND 8 JULY 2017
Flow of lab visit was as follows:
Day 1
1. Permeability of soil.
2. To determine Swelling Pressure.
3. Consolidation of soils.
4. Penetration of Bitumen.
5. Kinematic viscosity of Bitumen.
6. Marshal Stability
Day 2
1. Softening point of Bitumen.
2. Ductility of Bitumen
3. Triaxial Shear test.
4. UCS test.
5. Hydrometer test.
COMPUTER AIDED ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF BUILDING
A Seminar on Computer Aided Analysis and Design organized by Civil Engineering department for the students of 5th and 7th semester on July 3rd, 2017.
Speakers: Asst. Prof. Ankur shah, Asst. Prof. Paresh Mistry, Asst. Prof. Sanjay Rachcha.
EDUCATIONAL VISIT
The Department of Civil Engineering of Laxmi Institute of Technology organized educational visit for third year Civil Engineering students to Construction Site of 10 story building ‘Shree-ram Landmarks’ at Phalgam Near to Sanjan.
INDUSTRIAL VISIT OF “SARDAR SAROVAR PROJECT”
We conclude that while going through the entire industrial visit of Sardar Sarovar Dam, we know the different features nature and new components of dam structure and practically analyzed the method used in storage of water, construction of component part of dam, and distribution of water through the canal and also know how to use the natures features in better way.
The dam is worked in a well and systematic manner such that all three states include in the construction of dam get the conspicuous advantages of generated power and water and other states which have the scarcity of water also get the advantage by the canal system.
SITE VISIT TO “VALSAD NAGARPALIKA BUILDING-UNDER CONSTRUCTION”
Final year civil engineering students visited under construction site for understanding and getting knowledge of placing of steel reinforcement and detailing of reinforcement on site.
PROJECT FAIR 2016
A project fair was organized on 29th April, 2016 at Laxmi Institute of Technology Sarigam premises for the students of final year to show case their skills and talent. All the final year students from Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering presented their projects in the form of posters and models. Distinguished guests from different industries and institutions were invited to witness the event and enlighten the students with their expert suggestions and views. The exhibition was given the form of project presentation competition and all the projects were evaluated by a committee formed. Based on the recommendations of the evaluating committee and the feed back of the guests, best three projects from each department were rewarded.
