AUTOMOBILE Engineering
About Department
The Department of Automobile Engineering offers 3 – year Diploma Course and 4 – year Bachelor of Engineering. The courses are approved by AICTE New Delhi & affiliated to Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad. Automobile Engineering is a branch of engineering which deals with designing, manufacturing, and operation of automobiles. It is an amalgamation result of mechanical, electrical, electronic, software and safety elements. Automobile engineering is also called vehicle engineering, and is one of the most challenging fields in engineering with abundance of growing opportunity worldwide. The department study deals with designing, manufacturing, developing, testing and maintenance of the automobiles. Automobile Engineers are classified into three streams namely Product or Design Engineer, Development Engineer and Manufacturing Engineer. This field requires lots of hard work and dedication to learn the profession and to achieve the success. Engineers in this field deals with creativity, design, service, and manufacture of different vehicles whose motive is to provide satisfaction, safety and comfort to the customers.

The practical’s such as battery testing (charging, discharging process), cables, wires & their different symbols & codes, starting & ignition systems, detailed information regarding A.C. & D.C. Generators & their working principles, different types of electrical instruments and their connections with the other equipment’s, are performed.
Fuels & Lubricants Lab
The Lab covers full detailed information regarding the Distillation process of crude oil, Determination of 1) viscosity of fuels, 2) Flash and fire point, 3) Specific Gravity & 4) carbon residue of Lubricating oil, study of CFR Engine & measuring the API Gravity of fuels, are performed.
Automobile Pollution & Control Lab
The Lab covers full detailed information regarding the measure of CO, HC Emission from petrol engine on exhaust gas analyzer & Diesel exhaust smoke of diesel engine on smoke meter, Servicing of Crankcase ventilation System, muffler & catalytic convertor, Demonstration of EGR System, testing & setting of CNG & LPG Kit, are performed.
Vehicle Body Engineering Lab
Progress of civilization is intimately connected with the means of transportation. A self-propelled vehicle used for transportation of goods & passengers on land is called Automobile or Automotive/Motor Vehicle. This lab comprises of a study of the chassis & body of all Automobile Systems.
Modern Vehicle Technology Lab
In this lab students get to know the latest in vehicle technology in regards to vehicle rescue and extrication. Interactive classroom session, covering aspects like body construction, restraint systems and alternative propulsion are done so that the students be able to directly apply their gained knowledge in both, virtual reality and hands-on extrication scenarios. Cutting and spreading techniques to cope with modern technology challenges are also part of the lab along with information on setting up scenarios for practical training.
Automobile Manufacturing Technology Lab
Today is an exciting time to be a part of the automobile industry, even though the demands on the business have never been greater. Customer expectations of vehicle quality, reliability, safety, and utility are at an all-time high. At the same time, worldwide overcapacity has put pressure on the industry to maintain, and even reduce, vehicle price. Hence the AMT lab plays the most important role in exposing the students to today’s market scenario.
Automobile Trade Practice Lab
This Lab introduces the students to the latest techniques and methods for Automobile trade in the modern world.
Auto Engines Diagnosis And Testing Lab
This lab is a facility used to develop, characterize and test engines. The lab allows engine operation in different operating regimes and offers measurement of several physical variables associated with the engine operation.
Auto Transmission-Mechanism Diagnosis And Testing Lab
This lab consists of the study of Automobile Transmission Mechanisms including their diagnosis and testing of different faults and defects.
Auto Electrical System Diagnosis And Testing Lab
This lab includes study of starting system, charging system, ignition system and lighting system and some accessories. The accessories include cigarette lighter horn and mobile charging system, etc.
Vehicle Air Conditioning Lab
This lab includes the study of air conditioning system of the vehicles and solution of the faults induced in the systems.
